    DREAMBYLD (2020)

Imagine yourself dreaming about the future of the nearby landscape. What would it look like?

This question was asked 25 citizens of the former town of Baarderadeel (Friesland). Citizen's association Kening fan 'e Greide wanted to create a vision for the future of this area in a participatory manner, hence their ask for collaboration with Rooftoptiger.

Based on the centuries-old knowhow of the Aboriginals we elaborated mapping symbols, and together with a manual the participants were able to establish a mindmap at home during the 2020 corona-quarantine. Mason jars were filled with natural materials, little symbols of what should be preserved forever: water, soil, herbs, wild grass...

All of these dreams of farmers, residents, scientists and artists led to one, common Dream Image/Dreambyld, a joint piece of art with keywords like 'nature-inclusive' and 'circular', entitled "It Weefsel fan Libben en Gelok". This dream catcher will protect the future of the landscape and its inhabitants by bearing in mind renewal and conservation of biodiversity. It's inspired by how water always finds a way through every possible landscape and by the mosaic of parcellation and the values and dreams about that same landscape, but always with the same starting point: a healthy soil.
