De Kunst van de werken (The art of the works) - 2024

Tuesday, April 23, 2024 - For the past few weeks, artist Zahra Eljadid, from Den Dam, has been working on the mural on the IJzerlaan bicycle bridge. Thanks to a close collaboration with Lantis and Archipel arts workplace, the “De kunst van de werken” project came to completion, resulting in a beautiful mural that decorates the bridge and brings to life the imagination of the local community.

The artwork, integrated with a sound wave pattern based on the sound fragment of the existing viaduct, promises to be a valuable addition to the neighborhood and its surroundings. To arrive at this unique design, Zahra drew inspiration from the stories, experiences and dreams of both neighborhood residents and users of the bike bridge. Using these valuable testimonies as a basis, Eljadid created her design, incorporating the pattern of the sound wave in a special way.

During several moments, Sara Dandois of Rooftoptiger and Daniel Granados of Human Films positioned themselves on the bike bridge to interview people about their experiences, right on that spot.
